Come back stronger

4 November 2016

Since his omission from the Owls’ squad at Cardiff, Barry Bannan feels he has come back stronger and ready kick-on in a crucial period of the campaign.

While Bannan is out to help Wednesday string another run of results together ahead of the busy festive period, the midfielder is also delighted to be part of the Scotland squad that will face England next week.

Happy with his own form, he told swfc.co.uk: “I’ve played a lot of games since I came here, it’s been like a rollercoaster.

“It’s been non-stop, playing a lot of games and a lot of 90 minutes as well.

“I missed the Cardiff game and it was probably great management from the manager because since I’ve been back, I have felt a lot better about myself.

“I think my performances have been a lot better.

“It can take a lot out of you and now that I have been playing international games as well, it was a tough two weeks.

“It is demanding but I just want to be out there helping the boys and playing every game.”

Heading into the international break, the Scot is hoping victory over Ipswich on Saturday will kick-start another positive run.

Wednesday are currently level on points with sixth-placed Bristol City and Bannan added:

“We want to get back on track and put together a run of results.

“A few weeks ago, we put five wins out of seven games together so if we can do that again it will be interesting to see where we are come Christmas.”
