Eager to get back up and running

18 November 2016

Owls midfielder David Jones says after a productive two weeks on the training pitch, the squad are ready to go again starting with a tough trip to Fulham.

The 32-year-old has seen a lot of positives during his short time at Hillsborough and feels Wednesday are well placed to go on another run in the Championship.

With over 300 career appearances to date, Jones says in his experience, decision making and taking chances is the key to building momentum in this division, explaining:

“It’s fine margins in this league and that will always be the case in a tough league like the Championship.

“We’ve had chances to win games but it’s the fine margins that can go against you and teams will capitalise on that like Ipswich did.

“You can’t expect to be winning comfortably against teams but from my experience, it always comes down to a chance here and there; then what matter is if you take it or defend properly.”

Reflecting positively on a good international break for Wednesday, the former Burnley man added:

“We’ve had chance to work on a few things but also to get some mental and physical rest. We’re ready to go again this weekend, absolutely.

“We’ve had the majority of the squad here, with just a few on international duty.

“We’ve had a lot of training days where we’ve managed to work on a few things and I think everybody is eager to get back up and running and get some momentum going.”
