Hirst called up to Three Lions squad

3 November 2016

George Hirst will link-up with the England Under-18s in the coming international break.

The Young Lions face a double-header later this month when they host Poland and France in a mini tournament.

Neil Dewsnip’s England will take on Poland at Stevenage’s Lamex Stadium on Thursday 10 November, before facing France at Peterborough United’s ABAX Stadium on Monday 14 November.

Match details

England v Poland – Thursday 10 November 2016, The Lamex Stadium, Stevenage (7.00pm)

England v France – Monday 14 November 2016, ABAX stadium, Peterborough United (7.00pm)

“We have two really competitive games, which will both be another good test for the players,” said Dewsnip.

“The Poles are always incredibly strong, disciplined and competitive and know how to get the best out of their players. I’m sure they may even have a loud and vociferous support in Stevenage too, so that should add to the atmosphere.

“It goes without saying that France are one of the leading European developers of young talent and we always have really competitive games against them at every age group.

“We played them recently in the Under-17 Euro Finals in May, when we beat them but it was a very close game and the French had their goalkeeper sent off in the second half at 1-0, so that was unfortunate for them and we’re expecting a tough and competitive game in Peterborough.”
