Joao nearing Owls return

17 November 2016

Wednesday are set to be boosted by the return of striker Lucas Joao.

The Portugal international has been absent through injury since the Owls’ 1-1 draw with Brentford in August but is closing in on his return.

Joao has resumed normal training with the squad during the international break and now aims to increase Wednesday’s attacking options.

Happy with the progress Joao has made over the past 10-12 days, Carlos said:

“The break was a good time for training, to improve the team and to recover most of the players.

“We have Lucas back to normal training, he is training normal all this week.

“It’s good to have as many options as possible. All of our attackers are completely different.

“They all have different abilities. We know Lucas is a player with pace and a good future."

Elsewhere, Marco Matias is expected to return to full training later this month, while Joe Wildsmith is also making positive strides towards a return.

“We are waiting for Matias, who this month will also be back to the team,” Carlos added.

“Joe Wildsmith is training on the field, he is not 100% but is out training. All these things are good news.”
