Owls on international duty

8 November 2016

As international action takes over this weekend, here’s where and when players from the Owls’ squad will feature for their countries in the coming week.

10 November

George Hirst has joined up with the England Under-18 squad for a mini tournament which kicks-off with a clash against Poland.

The game will be staged at The Lamex Stadium, Stevenage (7.00pm)

11 November

A huge fixture at Wembley between England and Scotland (7.45pm).

Owls duo Barry Bannan and Steven Fletcher are in Gordon Strachan’s squad for the Group F contest.

The Three Lions are top of the group with seven points, while Scotland will be out to reignite their bid for World Cup qualification after stumbling against Lithuania and Slovakia.

Bannan has been named in the starting XI in each of the Scot’s qualifiers so far.

Fletcher is a slight doubt for the Wembley clash with a knee injury.

At the same time as England face Scotland, Daniel Pudil’s Czech Republic host Norway in Prague.

The Czechs have two points from their opening three qualifiers and will be out to post their first win of the campaign.

12 November

Keiren Westwood has made the cut in Martin O’Neill’s Republic of Ireland squad.

Sitting joint-top of Group D along with Serbia, the Irish have made a good start and next-up is a meeting with Austria in Vienna.

The game will take place at Ernst Happel Stadium, 6.00pm local time.

14 November

The second and final game during the international week for George Hirst and the England Under-18s.

The young Lions host France at Peterborough United’s ABAX Stadium (7.00pm).

15 November

Following Czech Republic’s FIFA World Cup qualifier with Norway, Pudil and his team mates will host Denmark in a friendly at The Adidas Arena, Mladá Boleslav.

Kick-off is also set for 7.45pm.
