Pushing each other on

The Owls return to action this weekend after the international break and face the first of two consecutive away fixtures.

Wednesday travel to Fulham on Saturday before heading to Wolves the following week but for Liam Palmer, all focus is firmly on the next game.

After back to back defeats prior to the break, the Owls are out to issue a swift response.

Saturday’s clash with the Cottagers is well poised with both sides equal on 24 points in the Championship and just two shy of the top six.

“I know everyone says it but it’s true, we have to take each game as it comes and march on,” Palmer said.

“We have to look at the next team, look at the next game and focus on that. Consistency is important, we need to keep picking up points.”

Away from the pitch, Palmer says training has been at a high level and the squad are more than ready to go again this weekend.

In particular, he touched on the battle for the right back slot between himself and Jack Hunt and continued:

“The training has been good, everyone is together. There is so much ambition at this club and that’s what the players want, it starts at the top and filters right through.

“We all push each other on and we also know that if you’re not at it, then someone is there to take your place.

“That can give you a kick that you need and if you ask Jack, he would say the same.

“We all get on, the main focus for both of us and the whole squad is to help the team and be ready when called upon.”
