Two-goal Hirst fires England to victory

10 November 2016

George Hirst continued his fine run of form in front of goal on Thursday evening with two more goals for the England Under-18s.

The young Lions defeated Poland 2-0 at Stevenage’s Lamex Stadium with Hirst hitting a double.

The goals came either side of the interval and the first, six minutes before the break when the Owls youngster slid in to convert an Andre Dozzell low centre.

Shortly after the restart, Hirst capitalised on a slip-up at the back and was awarded a spot kick when defender Oskar Repka brought down the youngster.

The striker then confidently stepped up to convert from 12 yards.

A hat-trick only just escaped the in-form Wednesday academy product, as he saw a late effort clip the outside of the upright.

Hirst signed his first Owls professional contract in March 2016 and made his senior bow in the EFL Cup clash at Cambridge in August.
