Playing with quality

21 October 2016

Wednesday moved into sixth spot following the midweek draw with Cardiff, though Carlos Carvalhal insists it is too early in the season to place emphasis on league position.

Instead, the head coach is keen to focus on the progress that has been made and in particular, the difference in the quality of football between now and 12 months ago.

As Wednesday return to Hillsborough this weekend to face QPR - the third game in the space of six days - Carlos said:

“We are playing well, we are competitive and absolutely sure at this point last season, we were not playing with the same quality that we are playing now.

“It is important to be in a good position, of course, but we are still in the beginning of the season.

“With the Championship, if you have a good week it is normal you can go right up. If you have a bad week you can come back down.

“This is nine points we have discussed in the space of just a few days, so it can make a big difference.

“So position at the moment isn’t the most important but of course we wish to be more near the first positions.”
