Skipper glad to be back

3 October 2016

Steadily building up his fitness and match sharpness, Glenn Loovens is happy to be back in regular action for the Owls.

The skipper featured three times last week in the wins over Nottingham Forest and Blackburn and the defeat to Brighton on Saturday.

The international break will see that run put to a temporary halt and Loovens says the Owls will use that time to prepare for the trip to league leaders Huddersfield.

He said: “The break has come at a bad time for me because when you come back, you want to play as many games as you can.

“But maybe it is a good time for some of the other players who have played a lot of games to get some rest and recharge the batteries for the next one.

“When you’re coming back, you need a little run to come into yourself but physically I’m feeling ok.”

The Owls now head into the break with four wins from six games and three points outside the top six after 11 games.

Loovens added: “It was a tough game but with the chances we had, we have to score.

“We have to learn from this and be ready for the next game.

“We started the second half well and put pressure on them but the second goal came at a bad time.”
