Carlos Carvalhal said he was disappointed with the score but not the way his team played after the Owls lost 2-1 to Brighton at Hillsborough.

The Seagulls took the lead in the first half when Sam Baldock lobbed over Keiren Westwood, before Anthony Knockaert’s finish after the break doubled their advantage.

Gary Hooper scored in the last minute for the Owls but the home side ran out of time to mount a comeback against the Seagulls.

Carvalhal said: “I think our sides are very similar.

“We have a similar amount of quality and are both tactical teams, so in these games the small details make the difference.

“We started the game very even, but they got the goal and this meant they could become compact when we try to break them down.

“We pushed for the equaliser and were on top but they got the second which was hard on us during that time.

“I am very disappointed with the score but I am not disappointed with the way we played.

“We need to score more of the chances we create, and this is what we will be working on during the international break.”
