VIDEO: The hard work continues for Dawson

31 October 2016

Having been on Wednesday’s books since the age of 15, plenty of hard work and determination has seen Cameron Dawson rise into his current first team role.

The 21-year-old completed a lifelong ambition to step out for his boyhood club when he came off the bench against Brighton at Hillsborough on 1 October.

Dawson has since made three further appearances, including two starts in the games with QPR and Derby.

He said: “I would be lying if I said that I always thought I was going to play for Wednesday and it was all plain sailing.

“The fact is we are in a tough business. It has been important over the last couple of years just to keep working hard and make sure I do myself justice.

“I feel very fortunate now that I have had an opportunity and I’m just going to carry on working hard.”

Highlighting the first start of his career at Hillsborough against QPR, the occasion was made all the more special for Dawson as the Owls registered a clean sheet and he added:

“It was extra special with it being at Hillsborough and walking out of the tunnel in front of just short of 26,000. It was just a great feeling.

“I come from a family of Owls fans and a lot of my friends are too. They were really pleased for me to get my first start.”
