Carlos Carvalhal believes the Owls are back to the form of last season after their 2-1 win against Wigan at Hillsborough.
Wigan took the lead early in the game when Will Grigg scored from close range, before Steven Fletcher grabbed his first goal for the Owls on 29 minutes.
Fernando Forestieri put the Owls in front in what was a dominant second half for the home side to seal a deserved three points.
Carvalhal said: “The way we came back today shows the spirit of this team.
“In all the leagues in the world we know how important it is to score first because the teams become very compact.
“We scored before half time and I could feel the sensation during the break that we could go on and push to get the win.
“We stayed very balanced throughout the game, moved the ball well and we pressed their defence and we got the winning goal which we deserved.”
The Owls have their first three points since the opening day of the season and the head coach believes his side will get better.
He added: “I said after our performance at Brentford that I could see we were back to playing how we should.
“Today I think we showed this again with the way we played and we have jumped up some positions in the league.
“I think we can carry on and start to jump up positions again.”
