Everything for the team

The passion on the face of Fernando Forestieri was there for all to see on Saturday as he slammed home the winner at Hillsborough.

The 26-year-old struck his second goal of the term against Wigan to seal a welcomed three-point haul for Wednesday.

After the game, Forestieri exclusively told swfc.co.uk of his delight at playing a part in the team’s return to winning ways and thanked the fans for their support.

He said: “They gave me a fantastic reaction after the goal.

“I want to say thank you to them. I am happy here and want to play as well as I can for them and I want to thank them for their support.

“When I go onto the pitch, I play with my heart and leave everything out there for them.

“It was an important goal and I want to say thank you to my team mates and the head coach because they have supported me.

"When I go out on the pitch, all I am thinking about is my team mates and the fans and helping this club.”

Wednesday had to win the points the hard way but successfully battled back from a goal down to collect a maximum haul with Steven Fletcher also on target.

Forestieri continued: “I’m so happy because we played like a team, we started losing the game but the reaction of the team was amazing.

“We work hard every week and now we need to regroup because we go again on Tuesday.

“The important thing is that the group is good and I am so happy for the team.”
