Having that mental strength

13 September 2016

The Owls demonstrated their mental toughness in the last two outings, according to midfield ace Barry Bannan.

Having suffered back to back defeats and seemingly heading for a third loss on the spin away at Brentford, Wednesday showed their character to bounce back in strong fashion.

A stoppage time equaliser at Griffin Park earned the Owls a valuable point and coming back from a goal down to defeat Wigan 2-1 saw Wednesday return to winning ways after the international break.

“We’re back to our usual selves,” Bannan said. “Playing the way we want to play and winning the ball back quickly.

“We’re trying our best to do the right things and sometimes it doesn’t always go your way.

“We went four games in the league without a win and on another day, we could have got three points from some of those.

“It was just about having the mental strength to come back to winning ways.”

Bannan and his team mates will be aiming for more of the same this evening with Bristol City the visitors and he added:

“At Brentford we showed we were back and then I think we were very good on Saturday so it’s very encouraging.”
