Loovens looks forward

20 September 2016

Glenn Loovens made his long-awaited return to the Owls’ starting line-up on Saturday at St Andrew’s.

The skipper has been sidelined with a foot injury since pre-season but made his first appearance of the campaign last weekend.

Now back in the thick of the action, the 32-year-old is keen to move on and look forward to helping the team climb the Championship.

“It never comes at the right time,” Loovens said. “It’s very important to have a good pre-season but things happen.

“It was a problem I needed to fix but I’m glad it’s behind me now and I can look forward again.

“You always want to be with the team and not on the sidelines but it’s done with now and I can focus on playing and helping this club fight for points.”

Despite having largely controlled the clash with Birmingham, Wednesday must now pick themselves up after defeat in the second city.

Wednesday face Nottingham Forest at Hillsborough on Saturday and he continued:

“I don’t think we are far away from where we want to be, in terms of how we are playing.

“Carlos said the Brentford game was a turning point, we won two games after that one and now we must get back to that at home this weekend.”
