Loovens ready and waiting

15 September 2016

With Sam Hutchinson suspended for the trip to Birmingham on Saturday, Glenn Loovens has thrown his hat in the ring to feature at St Andrew’s.

The Wednesday skipper has yet to feature for the first team this season, with injury having prevented his inclusion thus far.

But the Dutchman, after playing three games for the Development Squad, is now ready to make his bow.

He said: “I am ready if the manager wants to put me back in there. I have played a few games for the Under-23s and trained well and I am almost there, it’s just about that match sharpness.

“If I play, if I’m on the bench or out of the squad, I will always give my best for the team or support the boys in the best way possible.

“It’s disappointing for Sam, of course, but these things happen in football, they are part of the game.

“The good thing is that whoever comes in, the manager knows he has good, solid options because of the quality of the squad we have assembled.”
