Never give up

16 September 2016

If the past three games have shown anything about Carlos Carvalhal’s players, it’s that they will never give up.

From losing positions in all three, Wednesday came back to gain seven points from a possible nine.

That spirit and never-say-die mentality is one that gives Carlos plenty of heart.

On his side’s fighting spirit, he said: “I must tell you, it’s something we don’t want to happen. We prefer to start winning the games.

“But we must live with the reality and not the things we wish. The reality is that in the last three games we were losing all three and we turned it around.

“First in Brentford, we had six or seven clear chances to score and then Brentford scored after an unlucky situation. But we returned to 1-1 and could have won that game.

“It was a point that changed everything because in that game, the team showed their heart.

“Then Wigan, we were losing 1-0 but turned to 2-1, the fans were amazing also in the game to change it.

“Again in this very strange Bristol City game to us, because we were losing 2-0 at the break, we believed, we did our changes and the players and fans were fantastic.”

Birmingham are the opposition this weekend and ahead of the televised clash, Carlos continued:

“We are in one period where things aren’t what we want but we have the heart to change everything.

“This is very good to a coach and to a team, especially from three games.”
