Now we move on

1 September 2016

The transfer window slammed shut on Wednesday evening and now head coach Carlos Carvalhal is looking forward to leading his team into battle over the coming weeks.

The Owls made a key addition on deadline day, recruiting winger Adam Reach from Middlesbrough.

Carlos and the Owls squad now have ten days until the home clash with Wigan due to the international break and the head coach said:

“I am very happy with the players. It is fantastic when you close the transfer window because you are just focused and thinking about the next game.

“It means the coaches can just focus on winning the games. The last weeks have been very hard weeks.”

And Carlos is looking ahead to the coming games with excitement.

Wednesday’s performance and hard-fought point at Griffin Park last time out pleased the head coach on a number of levels and he explained:

“The last game that we did, it was a good restart for us.

“We played like we want, with the brand of Sheffield and of Sheffield Wednesday, with the hard work, with the patience and with heart.

“If we want to do something our main attribute must be this. We must show on the pitch that we have a strong heart and soul and when I say on the pitch, I don’t just mean the players, I mean the coaches, fans and everybody must push to one side.

“If everybody does this we can be a strong side.”
