Owls set for Championship double header

21 September 2016

Liam Palmer is confident Wednesday can respond positively to Saturday’s setback at Birmingham with another Championship double header on the horizon.

The Owls face Nottingham Forest on Saturday at Hillsborough followed by a trip to Blackburn three days later.

Given the strength and talent of the squad, the academy product feels it’s a matter of time before the Owls put a run together and he explained:

“With every player that has come through the door, they offer something a bit different.

“Adam Reach, for example, has been one of the toughest opponents I’ve come up against in the league.

“He’s direct, he’s quick, he’s good at crossing and has an eye for an assist and a goal so I think he will be great for us. He’s settled in really well.

“David Jones hasn’t been here long but you can see the contribution he made against Brentford, so it’s good that the new players can bring something different.

“It gives us that flexibility.”

Although yet to make an appearance, Palmer has seen plenty of positive signs from fellow defender Urby Emanuelson who joined the Owls earlier this month as a free agent.

The former Ajax and AC Milan full back stored 90 minutes under his belt for the Owls Under-23s on Monday evening in the 4-1 win over Watford.

Palmer added: “Instantly you can see he’s got quality, it was evident from day one in training when he came in, in the five-a-sides.

“I think it’s a great addition, he’s got a lot of pedigree and can use that experience.”
