Stobbs hails first team experience

7 September 2016

Owls youngster Jack Stobbs says there is plenty to learn from the senior players at the club, as he reflected on the Under-23s start to the season.

Wednesday picked up a point at Bramall Lane on Tuesday evening in a game that saw Glenn Loovens store another 90 minutes under his belt on his return to first team action.

Vincent Sasso and Will Buckley also featured for Wednesday, with the latter on target after the break.

Stobbs believes the inclusion of first team players in the Development Squad provides a big boost to the young lads in the squad and said:

“Obviously having players like Glenn in the team is a big help to all the boys.

“He helps the lads at the back get through it, he guides you and the lads find it really useful. It helps bring everyone on as players as well.

“Playing with senior players in these games is really useful because you can learn a lot from them.”

Stobbs – who has made two senior appearances for Wednesday - is now focused on giving his maximum for the Owls Under-23s, who have made a positive start to their campaign.

“You just want to give it your all in every game, play as well as you can and try to impress.

“It’s been a good start from the lads. We slipped up at Coventry a couple of weeks ago but apart from that, we have started well, got a couple of wins and a good point out of the game with Sheffield United.”
