Carlos Carvalhal says the Hillsborough environment was key in the Owls’ victory over Newcastle on Saturday evening.
As Wednesday posted a significant 2-1 victory over the Magpies, the stadium was bouncing in the early evening sunshine and the head coach has praised the fans for their part in the win.
Tom Lees and Steven Fletcher were on target for the hosts to spark superb scenes of celebration and Carlos said:
“The fans did absolutely fantastic, we felt the presence of them and this makes a massive difference.
“I hope this kind of environment can stay in the future because we need it to win games, absolutely sure.”
Delighted with the win in front of the Sky Sports cameras, Carlos feels Wednesday can get better and continue improving during the Championship run-in.
He added: “This is the football I like, a more connected game, having more of the ball, we had a good reaction when we lost the possession, created chances, scored goals – it’s the football that I like.
“We will try to do better and better. Even though we played very well against Newcastle, I think we can do better in the future and improve the team.
“Together, like this, we will win more games.”
