The younger age groups of the Owls academy enjoyed a unique experience across Europe in Spain.
The Under-9s, 10s and 11s have recently returned from the ‘Football Club Barcelona’ tournament involving teams from all around the world.
The competition was hosted at the renowned Complex Esportiu Futbol Salou facility south of Barcelona.
Two of Wednesday’s teams – the Under-10s and 11s – made the final in their groups, going down to FC Barcelona and Marignane Gignac of France respectively.
The Under-9s finished fourth overall.
Foundation Phase Manager Max Wragg said: “It was a fantastic experience for our young players to play against teams from other countries and compete in a knockout tournament of this nature.
“We came so close to winning but just fell at the last hurdle. I am very proud of all the players and hopefully will have learned a lot from this journey.”
