Here to achieve our goals

20 April 2017

With three games of the regular season to play, the Owls have already surpassed their points tally from last season.

Wednesday finished the 2015/16 campaign with 74 points in sixth position.

And with nine points left to battle for in 2016/17, Carlos Carvalhal’s side currently sit fifth in the Championship with 75 points.

An achievement, yes, but Carlos insists the only thing that matters is Sheffield Wednesday achieving their ambitions.

He explained: “The most important thing is winning games. We are not here to break records, we are here to achieve our goals.

"We are in a hard competition for the play-offs, we have three finals left and we must focus on each game.

"It is not important whether we have more or less points than last season. The competition is more hard than last season so we focus on the Derby game.

"The reality is we have progressed from last season but there have been parts of the season where we could have achieved more points.

"A lot of things have happened over the season.”

Wednesday head into Saturday’s clash with Derby in superb form with 13 points collected from a possible 15 in April so far.

He added: “We are happy with how we have done. This competition is a marathon and let's see what position we will achieve."

The head coach will answer questions from the media on Friday morning during the pre-match press conference at Middlewood Road.

Owls fans can watch live on the official SWFC Facebook page at 10.15am.
