Owls receive Kieran Lee boost

21 April 2017

The Owls’ matchday squad could well be boosted this week with the inclusion of midfielder Kieran Lee.

The 28-year-old - an important component in the Owls’ engine room – has been absent since January after undergoing surgery on a hip injury.

But after a successful rehabilitation and a return to training, Carlos Carvalhal says there is chance Lee could be named in the 18 for the clash with Derby on Saturday.

“Kieran Lee has progressed very well,” he explained. “He is showing very good signals, he can be involved in the 18 tomorrow.

“Let’s take the decisions, we haven’t decided yet but he is available if we want to put him in the 18.

“It’s fantastic news, we are recovering players all the weeks because so many players were out including Morgan Fox and Will Buckley, who have started training this week also.”

Lee had made 23 appearances before injury disrupted his campaign, scoring four times, and Carlos added:

“It’s very good news for us. His physical condition is not 100% yet, of course, but you know Kieren is a fit guy, he runs a lot and it is not difficult for him to achieve a good condition.”
