Sheffield Wednesday’s Under-23s have been crowned as the Professional Development League 2 North champions.
The Owls youngsters have enjoyed a terrific campaign and after battling hard at the summit for much of the season, they were confirmed as league winners on Monday evening.
Following the Owls' 2-2 draw with Leeds on Friday, Neil Thompson’s side remained at the top and could only be caught by Hull, who were five points behind with two games to play.
But the Tigers slipped to a 2-1 defeat against Birmingham on Monday, meaning the Owls could celebrate a fantastic achievement as champions.
Boss Neil Thompson said: "I'm really proud of the lads. They have done great all season.
It’s terrific to have had such a good level of consistency this year. We have been solid defensively and not given a lot of goals away and we have managed to get the goals to win the games.
"They should be really proud of themselves."
The Under-23s will now go into the end of season play-offs.
As winners of the northern section, the Owls will face southern section runners-up Millwall, with home advantage.
Details of the play-off semi final will be announced in due course.
