During the pre-match press conference yesterday afternoon, Carlos Carvalhal was asked by a reporter if it is possible for a manager to relax and enjoy this part of the campaign.
Carlos’ answer was emphatic and left the gathered media in no doubt.
He said simply: “If you relax at any time, you will lose.
“It is not a question of enjoying, it is a question of hard work, trying to improve the team, increasing our levels and fighting for the points.
“The pressure doesn’t change because we are playing Newcastle, we feel the same pressure to win every game.
“We go into every game to fight for the points, to bring the fans happiness and to fight to the end.
“Pressure is something you feel because you want to achieve something. If you have no goals, you have no pressure and this is not what we want.
“A league with no pressure would be very boring to me and to us all, for sure.”
He added: “We have six games to go, 18 points to fight for and we will go to try to win every game. Then, we will see where that takes us.”
