Wednesdayite's marathon challenge

26 April 2017

Wednesdayite Jodie Goulden completed the London Marathon on Sunday raising money for the Sheffield Children’s Hospital.

Jodie, who was invited by the Owls to present Fernando Forestieri with the Player of the Month trophy for February, completed the race in 5 hours 11 minutes and 2 seconds.

She has currently raised over £2,500, with further donations to be added to her total.

When she was 15, Jodie was a patient at the hospital after encountering complications from appendicitis.

Fortunately she recovered from her illness and has nothing but high praise for the doctors, nurses and surgeons who helped her.

Jodie was chosen to represent the Children’s Hospital by a patient after entering herself into a ballot to win a place to compete in the prestigious event.

The 26-mile race through London took place on Sunday 23 April, with thousands of participants taking on the challenge.

She said: “I absolutely loved doing the race and the atmosphere was unreal, it has got to be one of the best experiences I have had.”

“I have been struggling to walk and have been avoiding stairs completely since!

“I never thought I would say it but I'm even thinking about doing another one!”

Well done Jodie!
