A difficult opposition

25 August 2017

Carlos Carvalhal says the Owls are prepared for a tough challenge on the road this weekend.

Believing the Pirelli Stadium to be one of the most difficult places to visit in the Championship, the head coach knows exactly what to expect on Saturday.

Wednesday got their campaign up and running last week with their first league win of the season at Fulham, and now looking to tomorrow, he said:

“It will be completely different to the Fulham game, we created a strategy to block the dynamic but at the same time we went to attack and create chances.

“To play against Burton we must use different arguments, like I have said in the past, sometimes you prepare to go to the opera and sometimes you prepare to go to the rock and roll.

“Usually you have different clothes and different attitudes, in opera you are more calm, more quiet and with very good quality.

“In rock and roll, you must move more, you must dance, move a lot, understanding there will be a lot of noise and you must solve the situations.”

Wednesday suffered their first loss of last season away at Burton, going down to a 3-1 scoreline.

“We felt in that moment during the season they will be a team very hard to play, especially in their home,” Carlos added.

“We had some problems in that game near the beginning of the season to choose the first eleven.

“They put to us a lot of problems with the way they play and the dimensions of the pitch, they deserved to win that game, sure.

“During the season, they confirmed they are very hard to play in that stadium and it’s what we expect on Saturday.

“It’s one of the more difficult pitches to play away, but we know better the opponent, we have tried to correct the mistakes we made in the past to discuss the three points on Saturday.”
