Carlos Carvalhal has issued a strong rallying cry ahead of the Owls’ Championship curtain raiser on Saturday.
The long road begins this weekend at Deepdale and to start this lunchtime’s pre-match press conference, Carlos delivered a strong message to begin proceedings.
“The most important thing to me and to us is the badge. That is most important.”
His passionate delivery came with Wednesday now finalising preparations for the clash with Preston.
Having achieved positions of sixth and fourth in his two seasons at Hillsborough, the Portuguese is ready to lead his side into battle once again with everyone on board and behind the badge.
“This is a time to focus on our Championship and the things more important,” he said.
“It’s not time to talk too much about kits, players we don’t have and players that we wish.
“It’s time to talk about the players that we have, it’s time to talk about the confidence of the team and the things very important.
“It doesn’t matter whether you have more blue, less blue what is important is that you give confidence to the players.
“It’s important we defend the badge in all the moments and it’s something I can promise to all the fans that we’ll fight from the first until the last second very hard all season.
“With a positive environment and a big commitment between the coaches, players, fans, chairman and so on, it was why we achieved the play-offs in the last two years.
“We need all of us, and I mean me, my staff, the players and the fans to do that little bit more.
“If all of us do a little more in comparison to last season, we can achieve a better position.
“It’s my message to all the fans, we will start Saturday and we are looking forward to the competition.”
