We owe a reaction

7 August 2017

Owls captain Glenn Loovens has spoken passionately about the need for a reaction on Tuesday at Hillsborough.

Wednesday made a disappointing start to the new campaign with defeat at Preston but Loovens says everyone is keen to put that performance to bed and respond in the right manner.

The Carabao Cup clash with Chesterfield will provide the Owls a platform and opportunity to right those wrongs and Loovens insists it’s one the players aim to take.

“We all know we can play much better, it was a total off-day from everyone,” he said during Monday’s pre-match press conference.

“It’s not the standard we normally play but we have to forget about it and move on and the good thing is the next game is always close by.

“We have to forget quickly and we have the next game to prepare for tomorrow. Everyone has to do better.”

Wednesday face their first Hillsborough test of the season against League 2 side Chesterfield and following the frustrations of Saturday, Loovens says nothing will be taken for granted and added:

“We need a win, we can’t think it will be easy because we play a League 2 side, far from it.

“I know their manager well, they will be prepared and we need to go into the game in the right frame of mind.

“We owe everyone a reaction and I am sure we will do that tomorrow.”
