The Wednesday wideman saw the Owls off to a dream start at Aston Villa, netting after just 18 seconds in the Midlands.
Reach picked up possession on the volley from all of 25 yards and unleashed an unstoppable shot that flew past Sam Johnstone and into the top corner.
The former Middlesbrough man faces competition from Barry Douglas (Wolves) and Danny Ward (Cardiff) for the award.
