Can’t wait to get started

1 February 2017

Jordan Rhodes says he is eager to start the next chapter of his career with Sheffield Wednesday.

The striker signed on loan from Middlesbrough until the end of the season and the switch will become permanent in the summer.

Rhodes – who boasts an outstanding record in front of goal for each of his previous clubs – says he is delighted to join the Owls and explained:

“It’s a club I’ve held dear to my heart for a few years now, with my dad also here.

“I’ve got very good memories of playing at Hillsborough and I’ve always said wherever I’ve been, Hillsborough has been my favourite away ground.

“To have it now as my home ground, I’m really looking forward to playing there.

“It’s a special place, the fans make it what it is, there is a great tradition about the club and I’m looking forward to getting started.”

The hitman is keen to get straight down to business and off the mark as soon as possible.

Over the years, Rhodes has hit the headlines for his goals against at Hillsborough, with the most memorable his four-goal haul for the Terriers in the 4-4 draw back in December 2011.

Ahead of the first training session with his new team mates, he said:

“I’m looking forward to getting out there, playing games and scoring a few goals in Sheffield Wednesday colours now.

“In the last six months, I’ve not been able to do that and it’s something I love doing.

“I’m looking forward to getting started and getting to know everyone.”
