Home form will be crucial

9 February 2017

Wednesday will make a welcomed return to Hillsborough on Friday for the first of two quickfire home games.

It brings to an end a tough run of fixtures on the road and Ross Wallace believes the home form will be crucial here on in.

The Owls host Birmingham, Blackburn and Brentford this month and during March, three of Wednesday’s four games will also be staged at Hillsborough.

“It’s been a bit of a strange period and it’s been a while since we’ve been at home,” Wallace said.

“The Brentford game got changed and we’ve not played here for a long time so it will be nice to get back to Hillsborough.

“We’re in for a tough match but it’s on Sky and hopefully we can put on a performance.

“Home form was key for us last season and having more home games in this part of the season will be big for us with the fans spurring us on as they always do.”

Wallace, who was crowned as the Owls’ January Player of the Month and has three goals in his last four outings, continued:

“More importantly we’re picking up points, four in our last two away from home.

“We have an important game on Friday and we’re ready for that. We have more home games than away games coming up and that is a bonus. Our home form is going to be important for us.”
