Three points all that matter

15 February 2017

Unlikely goal-hero Vincent Sasso says the only thing that mattered from the clash with Blackburn was the crucial win.

The Frenchman’s two-goal haul settled a tough battle with Rovers, as Wednesday strengthened their grip on a play-off spot.

Combined with results elsewhere, the Owls moved four points clear of seventh spot with their 11th home victory of the season.

“It was a really hard game, we know we can play better but the most important was to win. Everybody is happy with the three points.

“It’s all the time the same against teams that are struggling, they make the game very hard and it’s what we expected.

“We can play better football but at the end of the day we got the three points.

“This is what big teams do, even when you don’t play as well as you can, you battle through, you keep helping each other and at the end you get the win.”

Delighted to bag the goals that kept the Owls’ winning run on course, he added: “Of course, these things don’t happen all the time so I am happy with the goals but more importantly, we have kept our good run going and now we look forward to the next game.”
