Jack Hunt said the Owls needed the win after beating Wigan 1-0 at the DW Stadium in front of the Sky cameras on Friday night.
Ross Wallace’s first half goal was enough to grab all three points for Wednesday in what was a game of few chances.
But mirroring the manager Carlos Carvalhal, Hunt was delighted to post the points.
Hunt said: “I don’t think it was pretty but those wins mean the world to us.
“I think we did well to get the goal and see the game out against a team battling against relegation.
“It was just important that we got three points on the board, we needed that win.
“We were disappointed to come away from Bristol City without three points, especially when their equalising goal was a shock with it coming from a deflection, so it’s important that we got the win tonight.
“Now we go back home with two games on the bounce and we’ll see what we can do.”
