Carlos Carvalhal spoke fondly of his time with Sheffield Wednesday in an exclusive interview with swfc.co.uk, and was particularly proud of a record he held going into 2017 with the Owls.
The Portuguese head coach ended 2016 as Wednesday’s most successful manager of the last 50 years, a record he was pleased to have.
Carvalhal said: “It’s fantastic news, I am very, very proud about that.
“I am 51 years old, so since I was born, to the end of 2016, if we have the best percentage of points in this period it’s something amazing.
“I am very proud because these things stay a long time with the club.
“I know that me and my staff are the first non-British coaches in the history of the club.
“This means that one day when I leave the club there is something very important we did at Sheffield Wednesday.
“In this moment I can’t forget that these kind of things we don’t achieve alone, the chairman, the fans, my players, it shows that this is a group and not just personal.
“But, of course, I am very proud.”
