A good feeling

3 January 2017

Callum McManaman made his debut for the Owls on Monday following his loan switch from Premier League West Brom.

The winger played 53 minutes of the clash with Wolves and head coach Carlos Carvalhal believes there is plenty to come from the ex-Wigan man.

Given the sharp turnaround in games, just 48 hours after the Owls’ 1-1 draw with Preston and a number of injury concerns at the club, McManaman was thrown in from the off on Monday and Carlos was pleased with his contribution.

He said: “In normal circumstances, you know I would never put a player in to play that has been with us for five or six days.

“I never did this in the past, the circumstances made us do this decision.

“But he gave some signals what he can do one or another time in one to one attack.

“He didn’t play for a long time so he needs the tempo, he needs time and he will be better.

“In the future, McManaman will be more integrated to the squad. He is a good player to us and to the future, we must give time to him but I have a good feeling about him.”
