Carlos Carvalhal says the news of Fernando Forestieri extending his contract at Hillsborough is fantastic for everyone concerned at the club.
The Owls talisman has committed at Hillsborough until summer 2020 and Carlos has welcomed the development, and explained to swfc.co.uk:
“What great news in 2017! All the time Fernando, as I have always said in the press, is very happy since the beginning.
“He wants to play for Sheffield Wednesday, he wants to stay here and it’s amazing news.
“We are happy that he has extended his contract, he is a player that has had a big game impact on games and he has scored a lot of goals in one year and a half.
“We expect the best of Fernando will come in the future. He is growing up, in the last game he did better than the one before and we expect on Saturday against Huddersfield he will stay near the high level.
“We want him to stay in the high level, like what we expect of him, for the rest of the season.”
Wednesday now look forward to a Yorkshire derby on Saturday as play-off rivals Huddersfield visit Hillsborough.
The head coach continued: “It is very, very positive news, we know we have won five and lost just one of our last nine games.
“With small problems to build our best team in the past month, it was very hard to us but the panorama is better now.
“This kind of news is amazing because it stabilizes everyone and this means the players and team can perform better and better.
“It is important to have the players 100% focus on their work and be ready to give their maximum.”
