Bannan looks forward

5 January 2017

Barry Bannan says Wednesday will take the positives from their recent run in the Championship.

With one defeat in nine and coming through the festive period in sixth position, the midfield ace is now looking forward with big games on the horizon.

Following the Owls’ FA Cup clash with Middlesbrough on Sunday, the Owls have back to back fixtures with fourth-placed Huddersfield and league leaders Brighton.

Bannan said: “There are big games coming up but we have shown over the season that we are capable of beating anybody in the league.

“It doesn’t matter who we play, we know if we perform on the day we can get a result.”

Wednesday upset the odds on Boxing Day with a terrific display against Newcastle and followed victory at St James’ Park with successive draws away at Preston and home to Wolves.

“You have to look at the positives,” Bannan continued.

“It’s hard because you go out every game to win. After getting the late equaliser against Preston, we wanted to come back here and get the win but it didn’t happen.

“It was disappointing but we move on and look forward. We’ve not been beaten for a while now and that is a positive.

“We keep our unbeaten run and we’ll go into those games with confidence.”
