Carlos Carvalhal said he was happy with his players but frustrated with the result following the Owls 2-2 draw against Bristol City at Ashton Gate.

The Owls took the lead through Fernando Forestieri but Lee Tomlin equalised from the penalty spot after the same player was brought down by Tom Lees.

Wednesday regained the lead when Ross Wallace finished clinically from a Barry Bannan through ball, but the Owls were pegged back again when Joe Bryan’s shot took a huge deflection off Tammy Abraham before finding the back of the net.

Carvalhal said: “We had a new dynamic tonight. We had new faces in the team and they haven’t played together very long, so in some ways it was a new face to Sheffield Wednesday.

“We created some chances and caused problems to the opposition and I don’t remember Keiren Westwood having to do much defence.

“I am happy with my players, we had to fight to achieve the second goal and after this I didn’t think we would not win because we were in control of the game.

“Their second goal was lucky, it’s something that happens in football. What can you do about something like that?

“We went for the win and fight to the end again, but we have achieved one point.

“I am not happy about the score but I am happy with my players’ attitude.”
