Much more to come

3 January 2017

Vincent Sasso says the Owls will only get better following a Christmas and New Year period that yielded 14 points from a possible 21 and one defeat from seven Championship games.

The French defender made his first start of the season against Wolves on Monday and conceded that Wednesday were far from their best in the goalless draw – but the point collected can only prove a positive.

He said: “Overall, the holiday period has been good in terms of the points we have collected.

“We have played a lot of games and lost only once. I do not think we particularly deserved to win the game against Wolves but sometimes it is important not to lose.

“This could be a very important point come the end of the season.

“We know there is much more to come, we are in a good position in the table, and we can only get better in the second half of the season.”

On a personal note, Sasso was delighted to pull on a shirt having waited patiently on the sidelines this season.

The central defender was satisfied with his performance and felt stronger as the contest unfolded.

He explained: “Every player wants to play and I respect every decision made. I have worked hard in training and waited for my chance to play.

“I thought I did OK, I did some things I was pleased with and some things I can get better.

“That comes with more minutes on the pitch and the more I can get, the better.”
