Owls impress under the lights!

19 January 2017

The Owls Under-15s registered a superb victory in their Floodlit Cup clash with Newcastle on Wednesday evening.

Goals from Luke Hall and Corey Glaves sealed a 2-0 win for the Wednesday youngsters.

The fixture was the first ever Under-15 Floodlit Cup game to be staged at a club’s main stadium.

Owls coach Ben Wilkinson said: “It was a fantastic night for the boys and we were impressed by their performance.

“It was a big occasion playing under the lights at Hillsborough in a great competition. There were fans watching on but the players handled it so well and that’s the pleasing part.

“The two scorers Luke and Corey are playing up from the Under-14s age group and that’s part of our philosophy – to push the players and give them that opportunity.

“It wasn’t just the win that was pleasing, it was the style of our play, our possession, passing and overall performance.”

He continued: “We are very thankful to the first team staff and ground staff at Hillsborough, it was a great experience for the players and hopefully we have started something in this competition by playing at our main stadium.”
