'Stay focused' says Owls skipper

30 January 2017

Glenn Loovens has issued a firm warning ahead of the Owls’ trip to Championship strugglers Bristol City on Tuesday.

The Robins have lost eight consecutive league games and have plummeted into a precarious position at the wrong end of the table, just two points above the bottom three.

But the Wednesday skipper believes his side will be in for a tough evening at Ashton Gate as the Robins bid to put a halt to their slide down the table.

“These are often the most dangerous games,” he told swfc.co.uk.

“I believe they have a good team with good players and I think against teams fighting for their lives, they are the most dangerous.

“We have to be 100% focused and if we do this and play to our ability, then we can win any game in this division.”

The Owls’ trip to Bristol City is the first of two games away from home this week, as Wednesday travel to Wigan on Friday for the live Sky Sports encounter.

But focused only on Tuesday, Loovens added:

“We had a bit of a gap to our closest rivals below us but that has been closed now.

“Teams are keeping up the pressure but we don’t want to look too much at the league table, we take it game by game and are focused only on Bristol City and after, we will look to the next game.”
