The Owls Under-23s were back to winning ways on Wednesday afternoon with a 4-2 victory at Sunderland.
The pre-season friendly saw Wednesday go 1-0 up after 46 seconds with George Hirst scoring his first of an impressive treble against the Black Cats.
Sunderland hit back strong and went in at the break 2-1 ahead before an unstoppable Matt Penney free kick drew the Owls level after the break.
The Owls then hit Sunderland on the counter with devastating effect as Hirst coolly bagged his second goal of the game.
Hirst then wrapped up the win, collecting possession 50 yards from goal, rolling his marker and gliding past three challenges before sliding neatly into the bottom right corner.
The Owls Under-18s were also in action today at the Academy of Light and picked up a 1-1 draw against Sunderland in a pre-season encounter.
Against the run of play the Owls went a goal behind just past the half hour mark but issued a swift response with captain Ciaran Brennan heading home the equaliser from a corner.
