An opportunity for us

17 March 2017

David Jones believes tonight’s clash with Reading represents a fantastic opportunity for the Owls.

Victory this evening for Carlos Carvalhal’s side would see Wednesday leapfrog the Royals into fifth position.

A huge game for both sides indeed and with just nine games to go, Jones says the Owls must take care of business and explained:

“They seem to all be big games at the moment, they are very close to us in the table but this is a very good opportunity for us to get a good result.

“There will be pressure but it’s about how you handle it.

“It’s how you use that energy - I tend to rub my hands together and see it as a great opportunity.

“A big crowd, against a rival team and these are the games you want.”

The former Burnley midfielder says the club have nine crucial league fixtures remaining but all focus is on tonight’s game before the final international break of the campaign.

“We have prepared very well this week and we are looking forward,” he said.

“We want to play as well as we can, get the crowd right behind us and fight for the three points.

“That’s our main aim, we’re not looking too far ahead. We have got nine massive league games to make it a successful season.

“We have to take care of our own business, it’s in our hands and we do not need to rely on anyone else.

“The first step is tonight.”
