The Owls will be in better shape personnel wise when the Championship resumes following the final international break of the season.
A raft of injuries in recent weeks has hampered Carlos Carvalhal as he bids to cement Wednesday’s place in the play-offs.
But the head coach says the break came at the right time, giving those with fitness concerns a welcome chance to rest and recover.
Carvalhal said: “The break was very welcome, I have to say. We have lost some key players recently and I think any team in the world would feel that.
“When the spine of the team is absent, this is difficult but all the players have been fantastic.
“I believe we have been very unlucky in games – at Aston Villa we played well, even after going down to ten men.
“I still do not know how we did not score against Reading, but this is football.
“So now we have had the break, some players have recovered and this is very encouraging.
“We will go to Barnsley on Saturday in much better shape because our squad we will be stronger with players coming back.
“We have good expectations for one or two more so let’s see. We are ready to go.”
