Strong signals from the Owls

31 March 2017

Behind the scenes during the international break, it’s been nothing but hard work for the Owls as we move into the final phase of the campaign.

Just eight games remain, beginning with a tough-looking trip to Oakwell on Saturday.

Looking ahead to the South Yorkshire derby, one element that has pleased Carlos Carvalhal in the build-up is the levels at which his side have trained over the past two weeks.

Keen to resume the season with a positive result at Barnsley in the 12.30pm kick-off, Carlos said:

“I must tell you the level of training has been fantastic, especially this week.

“Very high level, very high tempo, I felt the high energy levels of my team and this can be a good signal to the end part of the season.

“We are positive and our players are positive to the game and this is the most important.”

The head coach has also underlined the importance of the sell-out contingent of Wednesdayites at Oakwell.

Just under 5,000 fans will make the short trip to back the Owls on Saturday and the head coach added:

“Tomorrow we will be with a good support from our fans, this will be important.

“They still believe in us and we will try on the pitch to give them happiness in the game. It’s why we are working hard.”
