There is no question over the difficulties that face Wednesday this weekend at Villa Park.
Steve Bruce’s side have lost just one of their last 12 league games and are unbeaten on home soil this season.
But Carlos Carvalhal says these are the challenges his side relish and will not accept any underdog tag in the build-up.
“We are not underdogs,” he explained. “We were underdogs in the first season but after this, we created responsibility because of the speed at which we are growing up.
“We play in our competition against all opponents, in all the stadiums and we will not be underdogs anymore.
“We are a massive club, we created our brand, we take responsibility and all the games in our competition will be at the minimum 50-50.”
The Owls head to Villa Park with a sold out allocation of 2,718 Wednesdayites set to make the trip and the head coach added:
“In the games that we play in this competition, I will not give the favourite to any team, for sure.
“We are Sheffield Wednesday and we go to all the games to fight for the three points.”
