One step from England!

10 November 2017

BTEC Sheffield College students studying at the Sheffield Wednesday Education Centre - second year Aidan Nagi (17) and first year Georgia Wilson (17) who is on the girls' scholarship programme in partnership with Sheffield FC - have passed the first phase of trials for the England Colleges National Men’s and Women’s team.

Several BTEC students were selected to attend the first round of trials late last month and both Aidan and Georgia made the cut.

The second phase of trials will take place on Sunday 12 November at Sheffield Hallam University, when the final 24 players for the men’s and women’s teams will be selected.

The players will then represent the ECFA National Team in a number of domestic fixtures and an international tour in 2018 if chosen for the final team.

Past England college players have been selected for their ability (technical, tactical skills), potential (desire to develop themselves) and character (mindset, attitude and team player).

It’s a major achievement for both students to make the final trial round and we wish them the best of luck!
