Owls head coach Carlos Carvalhal was full of praise for a brilliant Wednesday performance as the away side came out 2-1 winners against Aston Villa.
Adam Reach’s screamer after 15 seconds set the tone in a dominant first half, before Jordan Rhodes tucked the ball home after 22 minutes.
Chris Samba’s consolation late on for Villa was the only setback in an impressive afternoon for Wednesday.
Carvalhal said: “Today we came to combat the dynamic of Aston Villa and we came to win.
“We played really very well and the early goal was very important.
“We were very good in the defensive part of the game today as well, we went for 95 minutes very strong before conceding the goal.
“Of course I am not happy with the goal we concede, but the performance was very good today.
“We did not come here for a clean sheet, we came here for a win.”
Reach’s strike was his third goal in as many games for Wednesday and the Portuguese was full of praise for the winger.
He added: “When we bring Adam Reach we know what we get, today he scored a fantastic goal.
“He’s English, young, I don’t think there’s many players in the Championship who play with the same intensity as he does.
“He covers the most distance, he plays every game and we are very pleased to have him at Sheffield Wednesday.”
